Amsterdam and Ireland 2013

Amsterdam 2013.
The weather was cool and rainy...so I didn't take my camera around much with me.  But the cool weather was a welcomed change, and I wandered around eating apple tarts, coffees and hot soups by the canals.

I enjoyed the cold...gave me a reason to have lazy mornings in bed with a cuppa coffee.

Every day I strolled up to the Albert Cuypmarket for the delicious fresh fruits and
perfectly ripe veggies that Amsterdam has to offer.

Appeltaart at Winkel 43
On more than one occasion I found myself strolling up the same path...along the canals, past The Anne Frank House...to a little café called Winkel 43 for (in my opinion)
the best appeltaart in Amsterdam (or the world!).
Not only is it in my favourite neighbourhoods, the Jordaan but it is also in the
Noordermarkt which is full of trendy boutique shops, stalls and cafés.
And it was a pleasant walk from our hotel, as it was only about
40 minutes along the beautiful canals and tree lined lanes.
This will definitely be a stop on every future trip to Amsterdam.

We were also lucky enough to catch one of my favourite bands, Cocorosie, while in Amsterdam at the Paradiso...and boy did they put on an amazing show!  Here is a video of on of there songs.

Ireland 2013
This year we were really blessed in Ireland...it was Eugene and Anna May's 50th wedding anniversary and we all were in town...at the same time...at the same table...in the sunshine!!  Trips home just don't get better than this.
Beautiful day for a celebration of love and family.

It was so nice seeing all the kiddos again, we really miss them!

Snapshots of the dinner.

Fun in the beautiful Irish Autumn weather.

We tried to catch something...anything during the Dublin Culture Night...we missed it all.
But we still had fun!  Plus, I learned a new recipe for S'Mores (thanks to Alice and Orla)...

Irish S'Mores
Marshmallows
Chocolate dipped Digestives
Flame

Roast marshmallow over flame, place between 2 digestives, eat up...it's amazing!

Lovely day for a Guinness in Dublin. ;)

Nothing like a good ol' Full Irish Breakfast.  Rashers, black and white pudding, sausages, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and soda bread....my mouth is watering just looking at it!

Lovely Autumn Afternoon in the Irish Sea air.

Cool, salty, fresh, Irish air. It's just good for the soul.

Pints and Holly. (meeting up with Fint's pal Philip.)

We even got to catch one of Louise's hockey matches...
what a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

What would a trip home be without a nice pint!?

No need for snow...can make pebble angles along the Irish Sea.

While in Dublin we caught The Wall concert with some friends...it was stunning.
Great show, great evening.

I am already counting down the days until we get to see everyone again.  It was such a nice visit...I didn't want it to end, but alas winter is coming and these old bones cannot handle the cold.  When the sun comes back we will also be back. xxxSunshine Kid and Jen
See you in 2014! ;)
