The adventure of a lifetime continues.
From climbing one of the tallest mountains in SE Asia in Borneo, to exploring ancient temples in deep in the countryside of Thailand, to scaling the peaks of Irish mountains, to 25 mile hikes in the Cotswolds, to touring the countryside and golden temples in Myanmar, (and countless others) to now, sailing from Singapore to Tioman Island.

The water is amazingly clear...most beautiful...paradise!
Tioman is beautiful...while there we seen so many tropical fish...even a sea turtle and many colourful clown fish, starfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, coral reefs and much much more. The water was so clear, clean and refreshing. We anchored in about 15 meters (almost 50 feet) and you see could our anchor and chain all the way to the sea bed...clear as day. Amazing. We also had amazingly beautiful weather the whole time...blue, clear skies, mild dry heat. We couldn't have asked for more.

All in all we had nothing but beautiful weather....until we re-entered Singapore water and were greeted by a Sumatra Squall and a crazy lightening and rain storm. Just before the squall we were enjoying some beautiful wind and sailing...sailing at about 13.5 Knots SOG ( 15.5 MPH Speed over Ground)...but then the squall hit and I had to drop the sails while Fint sailed us into the wind. Sumatra Squall's as the name suggest are winds that blow in quick from Indonesia, for short periods the winds can exceed 100KPH or over 60 MPH (or Storm Force 10 on the Beaufort Scale). It was quite something...my first time to experience it...and I would be lying to say it wasn't scary. But what was equally as stunning was the zero visibility rain and lightening hitting all around us. The lightening forced us to hang out by some huge tanker ships for protection (as it is more likely to hit the taller ships than us). All this added another element to our trip...and I'm not going to say I enjoyed this storm...but I will say, I learned a bit more and will be prepared for them in the future! ;) We were so exhausted by the time we reached the comfort of our berth...and feel into a fast, deep sleep. I may just be catching up on the lost sleep now! ;)
This trip was an amazing adventure...one that just gave me (us) a thirst for more. I am already wanting to plan our next trip! Adding a few more islands (Sibu, Tulai, Aur, Pemanggil, ect.) along the way. We were sad to leave Tioman, but are equally as excited to sail there again...and believe me, we will.
