Easter Weekend on the Sea.

Langkawi to Singapore Spring 2017 (Happy Easter from us and the dolphins!)

It seems Fint is never short of an idea for a new adventure for us.   So when Fint starts a sentence with…”hey do you want to…”  I know it’s going to be something good! ;)   This time it was…”Hey do you want to fly to Langkawi, Malaysia, to sail a 60 foot brand new sailing yacht to Singapore over the long holiday weekend?”  My answer was, of course, YES!!!  And boy am I glad for his great ideas…we had an amazing trip full of adventure, and even a little book reading relaxing time for me.

Here is a video of our trip:

We arrived in Langkawi to gorgeous weather and arrived in the marina the day before we sailed out.  We stocked up on 3 days’ worth of food and water.  So basically the only parts of Langkawi we were able to see was the marina and the grocery store…so I think we will need to take a future trip back to explore the island a bit more.   :)

Heading out of the marina

Fint and Jun

He's ready for the journey

Everything.

This trip was full of every type of weather.  From glass smooth seas and no wind, to beautiful sailing wind and clear skies, to tropical storms with loads of wind, rain and even a lightning strike!!  So we had it all, it was great fun, especially for Fint who loves to sail in every type of weather.  And it was really great for me to have 3 men on board, so when the storms came, I was free to retire to the cabin and read a book!  Win, win.

Sailing reading a sailing magazine...how you know you love it.

Forever my capt.

Watching the storm coming in to "greet" us.

Enjoying the calm and the Code Zero sail.

Doing what he loves...

The most spectacular and magical and dreamlike experience for me on the trip was the dolphin encounter!  Yes, finally, I got to experience a pod of dolphins swimming and playing at the bow of our boat!  It was so exciting for me, as you can tell by my hilarious reaction in the video. J  I was down washing my face and I got called up by Fint and Kris to come see the dolphins, so in the video I still had all the soap on my face. But I didn’t care; I wouldn’t have missed this for anything.  It was so raw and so amazing that it didn’t even look real.  It was quite a surreal experience.  One I hope to have again in the near future.  I would sail back and forth to Langkawi every weekend just to hang out with the dolphins for 20 mins on the whole 3 day/night trip.  It was so worth it.  I am excited for our next adventure, and I am thankful for my adventure partner and every single experience we share in life.  God is good.  Life is good.  Happy Easter!!
