Christmas and New Years in Australia
Here is a little video of some of our trip, remember to set it to HD. :)
Back In Australia
It has been quite a few years since I have been to Australia. And with all my interactions with koala bears, kangaroos, wallabies, wallaroos, wombats and all the other adorable fuzzy animals that Australia has to offer, it always seemed like such a dream to me. More of a, "did that really happen?" feeling. There was a lot of awwwwwws!, and ohhhhhhs! on those trips. And of course, Australia being Australia, this trip didn't disappoint in the cute department!
Australia is huge, clean, beautiful and just such an amazing place to visit....any part of it. On this trip we visited Perth and Margaret River. We wanted Christmas and New Year to be in a fresh place with lots of beautiful scenery, amazing beaches and of course the world class vineyards didn't hurt one bit. :) The food is amazing, wine is crazy good, the air is fresh, and the landscape is stunning; it is a place I hope to visit again.
Birthday Girl
We arrived in Perth on my birthday...and it couldn't have been a better birthday!! Best birthday to date! (although I probably say that about all of them, Fint is amazing at birthday surprises) :) We checked in to the hotel, and hit the streets. We ate grilled cheese, stopped at a concert and beer garden, watched a nativity play, took a very fast sunset boat ride, and then finished with champagne and an amazing dinner at the top restaurant in Perth. Fint also got a spider bite and I had to get the spider off of him...eeeek! But then Fint rewarded me with a lovely anchor bracelet as my birthday reward! :)
Pre-Trip Birthday Pressies from Fint xoxo He really knows me! :)
Birthday lunch....grilled cheese! This spot played nothing but 90's hip hop and I was in a happy place!
YUMMMM
Happy Birthday Girl Right Here
Poor Fint got a spider bite on our first day! I had to get the spider off of him....eeeeek!
We can never get enough boats! :)
Birthday Moon
Perth I luv ya!!
Christmas Eve: Rottnest Island
On Christmas Eve day we decided to visit Rottnest Island for a dose of cute animals and some hiking and snorkeling. The cute little buddies here are called Quokkas, and they can only be found on this island. They have no preditors on this island, so they are not scared and let you snap a photo or two of them. Quokkas are stinking adorable, extremely quiet and sleepy little animals. They are happy just snoozing or munching on the leaves. I'm in luuuuv! :)
My love, planning our route.
Best way to spend Christmas Eve.
Crystal clear turquoise water. Stunning
He is it.
The only thing cuter than a quokka! :)
I was exchanging address...so if he ever needs a holiday he can come visit me.
awwwwwww!
Boop!
He knows how to make me happy!
My Pirate!
Christmas Movie On a Rooftop
We watched The new Nutcracker and The Four Realms movie at Rooftop Movies...it was such fun!! Couldn't get more festive than some Pimms, pizza and a Christmas movie in the sunset. Awesome.
Best Christmas Ever!
Christmas Day Dinner
We decided to do a non traditional Christmas dinner. And it was delish!
Prosecco, cured meats and fresh seafood starters.
Main was lobster and steak with potatoes.
With a selection of Christmas desert treats. Perfection!
Dinner came with crackers and all!!! Perfect, and chilled Christmas Day dinner.
Photos from around Perth
Little Creatures Brewery in Fremantle
Frose to beat the heat in Fremantle Market *Fint had the Rum & Raisin
We always make it to the Irish Pub! :)
Margaret River
Arriving at our Air B & B in Margaret River. Excited to start the next part of our holiday!
Yay for holidays!!!!
Vineyards
Cape Mantelle Vineyard
One of the coolest things we did in the vineyards was to watch a movie in the Cape Mantelle Vineyard. It was such an amazing way to spend an evening. We had the perfect weather to enjoy some great wine, cheeses and watch Bohemian Rhapsody.
Great wine, a million stars in the night sky, a good movie and my love, what could be better?
Nothing.
Vasse Felix Vineyard
One of our favorite vineyards to enjoy the sunny afternoon away was Vasse Felix. It is stunning and has some pretty amazing wines to boot. It happens to be the oldest vineyard in the region.
The sunny patio is the perfect place to relax on a sunny day enjoying a glass of chardonnay and the best cheese platter.
He has my heart.
Fraser Gallop Estate
We also did a private tour of the beautiful Fraser Gallop Estate vineyard. This vineyard has the best, in my opinion, chardonnay I had on the entire trip, or even ever! It is so creamy and fresh. I would travel back to the region just to enjoy another glass of this pure joy.
Forest Hikes
We were lucky enough to have this gorgeous forest hike near our house...we walked it many mornings to get our coffee in town. :)
Boranup Karri Forest
We also spent many a day driving through and exploring the Boranup Karri Forest.
It is gorgeous and the air is so fresh and clean. It is a mix of salty sea air and fresh forest air. The forest is filled with the songs of all the birds...it is amazing. Good for the soul. These trees are towering, with many reaching 60 meters in height (that's around 197 feet tall)!!!
Natural Spas
Injidup Natural Spa
So pretty.
Surfer's Point
Even in rough stormy weather it is breathtakingly beautiful.
Fint is so talented with taking these photos. Amazing.
Stingrays at Hamelin Bay
As you probably seen in the video, the stingrays at Hamelin Bay were amazing. It was such special and surreal experience to have these huge, majestic wild creatures swim so gently up to us on their own will. The bigger rounder species is the smooth stingray. It is absolutely massive, hard to explain the size until you see them in person. The stingray with the pointed "wings" is called the eagle ray.
This was, by far, one of our favorite experiences while in Margaret River. Simply amazing.
He went straight in to snorkel with them.
Beautiful sunset.
Fint said it was one of his favorite experiences too...so if you find yourself in Perth, take a road trip to Hamelin Bay, you wont be disappointed.
Finding one of the many empty and stunning beaches in the area.
New Years Eve Day...watching the last sunset of 2018....
I'm happy to spend another new year with this man.
Sugarloaf...yep there is one in Margaret River too!! :)
Time to boogie board!
My new beach towel poncho thingy...LOVE!
The scenery looks better with him in it...doing his thing!
My turn on the board...I needed a wet suit, the water was just too chilly for me. :)
Roxy...hit me up. hahaaha
Birthday shirt! :)
Fint takes amazing photos...I can't wait to get these for our wall!
Some of the local wild birds we encountered. So cool.
These guys are massive.
This was an amazing trip.
This was a dream holiday for me, the perfect birthday and Christmas/New Years gift from Fint. And I couldn't be more thankful for these experiences and for him. I have a lot to be thankful for this New Years.
Happy New Years to everyone and I can't wait to see you all and make new memories together in 2019!!!
